Job Description::Lower Elementary Guide
Hillside Montessori in LaGrange, GA is looking for a curious, bright, self-starter to bring on to our Lower Elementary team. Our current Montessori guides began their careers in a variety of backgrounds. They earned Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering, History, English, Biology, Music, Education, etc. then found Montessori, went to training, and earned their credentials. The people who work with us are lifelong learners who are conscientious, committed to progress, respectful of all, and possess a strong work ethic.
Hillside Montessori’s charm comes from its curious learners, authentic guides, and involved leadership. We also have engaged parents, many who have supported the school since its founding in 2011. Thanks to an abundance of local resources, our students’ experiences are filled with the arts, outdoor excursions, and dynamic speakers/demonstrators. Guides and students work together to create a learning community that is, in the words of one volunteer, “an oasis of love and learning.”
The opening is for a nurturing, engaged, and enthusiastic Montessori-certified guide to teach in an established Lower Elementary (1st - 3rd grade) classroom. Bachelor’s degree and Montessori Elementary certification preferred. The ideal candidate should have: strong classroom management skills, the ability to assess and address the developmental needs of each student and to implement curriculum, and be willing to work with others in a positive and collaborative team environment. While Montessori certification is preferred, applicants without certification will be considered in an assistant role or as a teacher-in-training.
