Job Description::

Floater Teacher / Admin. Assistant

Rising Star Montessori Academy is accepting applications for a passionate and nurturing part-time Floater Teacher/Admin to join our prestigious Montessori school located in Fayetteville, Georgia. The right candidate will work closely with all of our classrooms, office and staff members to provide our 18-month-old through 13-year-old student base with a nurturing disposition and superior care, as well providing a support role to the Administrator.

The right candidate will be responsible to implement classroom activities either in the absence of a Teacher or on a daily basis, in place of a teacher, as needed. They will aid in the implementation of the daily schedule and routine, leading activities, developing nurturing relationships, and ensuring the safety, security, and supervision of the children.

Additionally, the Floater will be trained in basic office procedures and administrative work including, but not limited to, filing, answering the phone, taking messages, scheduling assessments and tours, etc.

This is a part-time position with opportunities for additional hours in the event of employee absences. Our school calendar runs 10 months per year (June and July are off months), and the right candidate must be available to start on August 6, 2024.


Daily Responsibilities

The daily responsibilities of the Floater will vary from day-to-day; Use daily classroom activities and routines as opportunities to promote children’s social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development; Assist teachers and other assistants in the development and implementation of a structured classroom environment, including implementation of age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plans); Assist the Administrator with office duties; Always maintain required adult-child ratios in each respective classroom; Maintain constant supervision of children (remain within sight and sound of children at all times); Follow classroom policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of children at all times; Complete and report any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and child abuse hotline (as a Mandated Reporter); Complete daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children; Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition (following BFTS guidelines); Report all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor in a timely manner; Supervise classroom routines which include toileting, diapering, food preparation, and transitions; Assist in keeping the classroom clean, organized and arranged appropriately; Assist in organizing classroom materials to carry out activities; Model appropriate behaviors for children as well as other adults in the classroom; Utilize developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques in the classroom, as needed, to guide and support children’s needs; Keep teachers and the center management and/or the Director informed of problems that arise in the classroom; Follow the proper procedures when releasing children during pick up time; Assist as needed with assessments, observations and other needed paperwork for client’s files; Build positive communication and cooperate with other staff to create and maintain a professional atmosphere; Communicate with staff members regarding issues concerning children and/or their parent/legal guardian; Participate in requested staff meetings; and all staff must believe in and act in accordance with both the Agency’s and the program’s mission statements, and sign a disclosure statement agreeing to abide by the contents of the Employee Handbook.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

At least one (1) year of prior experience working with young children required; High School Diploma or equivalent; Clear DECAL/KOALA background check results required; Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification or willing to obtain immediately; Reliable transportation to and from campus; Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods of time and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.); Complete continuing education credits through Bright from the Start approved resources as required (10 hours per calendar year, 10 hours of Health & Safety courses are required within 90 days of employment); Warm, approachable disposition, kind and firm demeanor; Prioritize safety of the children at all times; Excellent problem-solving skills; Willing to inspire and teach all children, regardless of background or individual needs, in an inclusive and supportive setting; Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Work collaboratively with a growth mindset, and give and receive feedback in a spirit of craftsmanship; Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment; and resolute commitment to our mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of RSMA’s students, families, and staff.


Preferred Qualifications

Portable (approved) DECAL/KOALA background check results; and knowledgeable about Montessori philosophy and materials; and Knowledge of Montessori curriculum content and children’s developmental needs.

In accordance with our “team” philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.

The hourly rate is highly competitive and will be commensurate to the level of experience and education for the right candidate.
