Job Description::Montessori Infant Teacher
Position Summary
The Montessori Infant Teacher creates a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 18 months. The teacher supports each child’s physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development using Montessori principles and respectful caregiving practices. The ideal candidate is warm, patient, organized, and passionate about early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide attentive and responsive care to infants throughout the day
Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and engaging Montessori infant environment
Observe and support each child’s developmental milestones and individual needs
Foster independence, confidence, and secure attachments through respectful interactions
Follow feeding, diapering, nap, and hygiene schedules in accordance with licensing regulations and family preferences
Communicate daily with families regarding children’s activities, routines, and development
Maintain accurate records including daily reports, incident reports, and developmental observations
Collaborate with co-teachers and administration to ensure classroom consistency and quality care
Sanitize classroom materials and maintain health and safety standards at all times
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
Montessori Infant/Toddler credential or willingness to obtain certification
Previous experience working with infants in a childcare or Montessori setting
Knowledge of child development and Montessori philosophy
Strong communication and classroom management skills
CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day
